Marie Force Interview
Thanks so much for having me!
Are experiences in your novels based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
For the most part no… I don’t base characters on real people, but some of the situations in the books come from real life. I make up most of it. My friends say that my imagination is a scary place to be!
What books/authors have most influenced your life most?
When I was a teenager, I LOVED Danielle Steel’s early books and have a couple of them on my keeper shelf. A Perfect Stranger was a particular favorite and one I’ve re-read a hundred times. Later I gravitated to Nora Roberts and devoured her books. Nora and her books made me want to be a romance author. I’m still a huge fan, and I get to sign with her at her bookstore in Boonsboro, Maryland on November 1. Talk about a dream come true!
You have written several series; which is your favorite and why?
I love all the series for different reasons. With the Green Mountain Series, I love writing about the big family and all the sibling dynamics—as well as the scheming father and grandfather who are determined to see all their “kids” happily in love. With the Gansett Island Series, I love writing about the island and the isolation and all the challenges that go along with island life. In the Fatal Series, I love writing about Sam and Nick and their romance as it unfolds and develops in every book. I’ll also be writing the new Quantum Series for Berkley about several Hollywood heavy-hitters who are determined to stay single… until one-by-one they are laid low by love.
What do you do to prepare to write? Do you have a process?
Coffee…. There’s always coffee before I write. That’s about the extent of the prep work, other than routine research needed ahead of each new book. Otherwise, I have an idea in mind of where the story is going, and I let it take me where it will. I don’t plot or plan too much in advance beyond the basic premise of the story. The fun part for me is figuring it out as I go along.
What do we have to look forward to from the amazing Marie Force?
Book 3 in the Green Mountain Series, I Saw Her Standing There, will be out on November 4. This is a really fun book about Colton Abbott and Lucy Mulvaney, who were so FUNNY to write. I enjoyed their story very much, and I hope readers will, too. I’m hoping to get another McCarthy book out in 2014, and I’ve also got Fatal Scandal, Fatal Series book 8, out on Jan. 12. Right now I’m writing And I Love Her, Book 4 in the Green Mountain Series, featuring oldest Abbott sibling Hunter. And then there’s that Quantum Series calling my name… Busy busy!
Thank you Marie. It has been a pleasure.

Now, when an opportunity arises to show her how he feels, Nolan can’t resist, but he knows earning her love will take more than a kiss.
